In late 2022, the West Virginia Key Club Foundation merged with the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation. As part of this merger, CDKF created a grant program with the funds it received from the West Virginia Key Club Foundation. The fund continues the work previously supported by them to support Key Club activities within the state of West Virginia. While no additional monies are being accepted for this fund, the CDKF is making available these funds to Kiwanis Clubs that sponsor Key Clubs in West Virginia to apply and receive grants from CDKF to support Key Club in West Virginia. It is anticipated that these funds will be available until they are exhausted in the next three to five years.
Eligible Kiwanis clubs can request grants for the following areas:
– 2024 Key Club District Convention Support – Registration
– 2024 Key Club District Convention Support – Travel
– 2024 International Convention Support
– Club Scholarship Funding
Grant applications can be submitted through April 30, 2024. Please note, though, that due to the late date of this announcement, funding for 2024 Key Club District Convention will be done on a reimbursement basis to Kiwanis clubs this year rather than paying Capital District Key Club directly. Grant applications will be reviewed by the Foundation and awarded at their May 2024 meeting.

The Capital District Kiwanis Foundation supports over 150 local Kiwanis clubs through providing scholarships, grants and other financial supports to these clubs. In addition, the Foundation provides donations to 11 pediatric trauma hospitals in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. The Ducky Derby contest is a major source of funding for these efforts.
Winners will be drawn at the District Convention in Portsmouth in August. You do not have to be present to win, and ticket purchases are not tax deductible.
