Our Kiwanis foundation funds scholarships awarded by the district’s Key Club and Circle K programs to deserving students. The foundation’s endowment funds these awards.
Robert H. Turner, Jr. Scholarship ($2,000)
The annual Robert H. Turner, Jr. Scholarship is awarded at the Capital District Key Club Convention to a Key Club Member who exemplifies to the highest degree the basic principles of Key Club – caring and service – in their homes, schools, and communities. The recipient shall be of high moral character and should have achieved excellence in all their endeavors.
Ellis Stroup Key Club Leadership Scholarship ($2,000)
The Ellis Stroup Key Club Leadership Scholarship is awarded at the Kiwanis District Convention to a Key Club member for leadership achievement. The recipient shall show evidence of outstanding leadership in a Key Club in the Capital District, participate in at least 80% in club projects and fund-raisers, show involvement and accomplishments in non-school activities, be accepted to a college, university or post-secondary school, and be a graduating senior.
The Capital District recognizes deserving teenagers each year for academic achievements, citizenship, service to school and community, growth and responsibility in his/her family, character and leadership performance. Nominees proceed through competition at club, division and ultimately district levels. The finalist wins $2,500 cash and a trip with their parents/guardians to the annual Kiwanis District Convention to receive the award.
The foundation supports causes that positively effects the children of the world. Every Kiwanian in the Capital District is a member of the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation.
This month, CDKF Board Member Don Dudley presented the CDKF annual donation of $3,000 to Rose Bevilacqa of the Hospital Foundation at Nemours Children's Health.
The funds will be used to support their garden program which is maintained by the Nemours Estate employees for the benefit of the children of the hospital. The food grown here goes to families of children in the hospital who are in need of assistance for the needs of the families. Nemours treats children ages prenatal to 18 years of age. Once they turn 18, if possible, they will be transferred to the Christinia hospital in Newark, DE about 5 miles from this hospital.

Club grants from the CDKF are used to benefit your community in many ways!
Today, we want to share with you what the Kiwanis Club of Font Royal was able to accomplish with their grant money. They helped E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School upgrade their playground, positively impacting all the children in their community ❤️
