When I applied to the scholarship for Teenager of the Year in 2009, the process was completed on paper. I made a copy of the application so that I could start over if I made any mistakes while completing it. The application was not too difficult, but I had to obtain several letters of recommendation. I made sure to give the people writing the letters of recommendations plenty of time to complete them.
Words of Wisdom:
Give your self plenty of time to complete the application so you have plenty of time to thoroughly complete all of the sections and to proofread it.
How did the scholarship support you?
The scholarship allowed me to purchase a laptop for college. I attended the engineering program at Virginia Tech, and at the time, they required all students in the program to purchase specific tablet computers that cost over $2000.
Were you in Key Club
Yes, I was in the Key Club while in high school. I was able to serve as treasurer of the organization during my senior year of high school.
Are you a Kiwanian now?
Currently, I am not in Kiwanis, but I support the organization and its ideals. I am also involved in various community service opportunities in my community.
What are you up to now?
I am living in Indianapolis with my wife and daughter. I work as a process engineer for Ingredion. I volunteer and serve at my church by mentoring youth and working with the children’s ministry programs.
